Dr. Andrew C. Soss OD, FAAO, QME
Upon completion of his Bachelor's degree at the University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Soss went to the University of Missouri for the next four years to obtain his doctorate. Over the following two years he then obtained his post-doctorate Fellowship to the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).
He has been on staff at the University of California Department of Ocular Pathology as a Clinical Instructor and been an active member of the California and American Optometric Association in addition to being a Fellow to the prestigious American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Soss has also served on the board of the Bay Area Optometric Council for many years and served multiple terms as President of the San Mateo County Optometric Society. While President of the SMCOS, he instituted protocol for the relationship between the Samaritan House Medical Clinic and county Optometrists which exists to this day. Dr. Soss has volunteered both at the Samaritan House Clinic and his private practice to provide hundreds and hundreds of free comprehensive eye evaluations for these people in need. In 2004, he was one of only perhaps 15 Optometrists in the entire State of California who held a State Board Certification in the treatment and management of primary open angle Glaucoma. By 2012, Dr. Soss had requests from attorneys to perform eye evaluations and expert legal testimony as an Agreed Medical Evaluator (AME) on patients/claimants for a variety of legal issues. After providing hundreds of expert testimony and opinions to the State of California, Dr. Soss obtained a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) license (the only Northern California Optometrist ever to obtain this license...and one of only 4 ever in the State). |
